Marsha Sampson Johnson

Marsha Sampson Johnson
KEYNOTE: “Free Your Mind”

Marsha Sampson Johnson is a writer, speaker and advocate dedicated to full inclusion of women and people of color in all work environments. She is known for her keen insights and high-impact presentations on leadership and navigating careers. Her column, Lessons from the Corporate Jungle, appears biweekly in the Birmingham Times. She is also featured in the Empowering Women Leaders series found on YouTube.

Johnson’s experiences in major corporations, non-profit organizations, small business, and local government anchor a body of knowledge and practical framework to which audiences easily connect. She is a retired senior executive with almost 25 years at Fortune 500 Southern Company – most notably Alabama Power Company. She has held executive positions in division operations, customer service and call center operations, talent management, human resources and corporate diversity. The genesis of her business and leadership acumen trace to early years of employment with the City of Jacksonville Florida, Westinghouse Electric Corporation’s Offshore Power Systems, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, and Coleman Management Consultants.

Always active in communities where she lives, the Jacksonville, Florida native has held significant community service and economic development positions, including those with chambers of commerce and economic development boards. She is an alumna of Leadership Jacksonville, Leadership Atlanta, Leadership Mobile, Leadership Birmingham, and Leadership Alabama. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum, and serves on the boards of directors of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, iwfGeorgia, and the Mattie C. Stewart Foundation.

Johnson holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Government from Jacksonville University; and is a graduate of Harvard University Graduate School of Business Advanced Management, International Senior Managers Program (AMP 157).

Connie Glaser

Her books have been translated into over a dozen languages and are among the most widely-read and influential books on workplace diversity and women’s leadership.

A frequent media guest, Connie has appeared on The Today Show, FOX News, CNN, and NBC Nightly News. With a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan, she has also served as a faculty member for the American Institute of Banking and the International Management Council.

As a corporate speaker and consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Connie is recognized for her ability to address challenging workplace issues with humor and insight. Connie first gained international acclaim with her breakthrough best-seller, Swim with the Dolphins, which established “a new navigational map for women in business.” Offering an updated role model for women, Dolphins has been ranked among the Top Ten Books on Women in Business. A workplace classic around the world, it has been translated into German, Chinese, Korean, Bulgarian, Japanese, and Hebrew.

Recognized for having her finger on the pulse of today’s workplace, Connie has served as Chair of the Travel Advisory Council for Inter-Continental Hotels. She also serves on the Women’s Advisory Board for Office Depot, and the Advisory Board for Emory University Graduate Women in Business.

Connie’s syndicated column, Winning at Work, appears in the Atlanta Business Chronicle and award-winning business journals around the country. She also is a nationally-featured columnist with bizwomen.com.

Connie was recently honored for her contributions to diversity and workplace excellence by being named Businesswoman of the Year by Office Depot. She has also been honored by being inaugurated into The World Who’s Who of Women.


Celeste Jonson

Celeste Jonson

Celeste Jonson is an expert at energizing and inspiring people, particularly leaders, to fully utilize their God-given potential and power to facilitate transformation in themselves and others. The goal is optimal and intentional living and leading. Her expansive experience includes working with multi-national corporations, nonprofits, small business, international leadership development organizations, and launching her own successful business over 14 years ago.

For more than two years she worked with internationally known speaker Les Brown as road manager, co-presenter and co-host of a talk radio show in Chicago. She subsequently hosted her own nationally syndicated radio show called Focus on Women, which aired in 70 markets. She has also authored seven books, e-books, and various recordings. This Michigan State University graduate is a two-time New York City Marathon runner. She uses the life lessons learned in those experiences to teach and inspire others, like you, how to successfully go the distance, remain focused, and break through challenging walls to victory.


Jeffery Tobias Halter

KEYNOTE: “Executive Success; What Men Aren’t Telling Women”

Jeffery Tobias Halter is a Consultant, Author, Gender Strategist and the President of YWomen, a Strategic Consulting Company Focused on Helping Men (i.e. Y Chromosomes) and Women to Understand and Unleash the Power of Women in Organizations. Jeffery is the former Director of Diversity Strategy at the Coca-Cola Company where his 26 year career spanned positions in Sales Management, Leadership Development and Diversity Education & Strategy.

Jeffery is also author of the book Selling to Men, Selling to Women. A featured keynote speaker, his work regarding gender differences in the sales process has been used in Tom Peter’s new work Xellence Always. He has been a contributing writer to the Tom Peters Times, Women2Women Link and PINK Magazine.

A passionate advocate in the development of women in leadership, he currently sits on the Simmons Business School’s Business Advisory Board, and has held National Advisory Board positions for Women’s Food Service Forum and The Network of Executive Women.

Dr. Marjorie Barlow

Dr. Marjorie Barlow is a consultant to business and industry. She comes to her work with vast human development knowledge and skills born out of the crucible of a long lifetime. Her career includes thirty years of service to individuals and groups as a relationship mentor. Marj has done post-graduate training and education in organizational structures and development and she serves her world as a teacher, speaker, counselor, therapist, consultant, and Strengths Coach. Those who know her say she has a strong passion for learning, innovative change, creativity, synthesis of ideas, and facilitation of human relationships. Dr. Barlow has published two books, Couples Night Out and The Possible Woman. Manuscript in progress is Tomorrow’s Woman.



Pat Falotico

Pat Falotico has 26 years with IBM, leading on a broad range of projects, including technical sales, sales management, service business development, software distribution, marketing and development of business
partner relationships on the local, regional, national and international level. She serves as IBM’s Senior State Executive for Georgia and Senior Location Executive for Atlanta; providing leadership for IBM in the community and across the state, linking our Corporate Citizenship and
Spirit activities with strategic IBM initiatives, and leveraging the resources of IBM to achieve strategic business goals.

In her current role as vice president of Sales Center Transformation, Pat is leading a number of optimization projects to improve deployment and productivity of IBM’s 3500 person inside sales force worldwide.

Prior to her current position, Pat has led large field and inside sales organizations focused on the Small & Medium Business (SMB) Marketplace at regional and national levels. Pat is the Board Chair for Communities in Schools (CIS) of Georgia; the local affiliate of a leading national organization focused on increasing student graduation rates. As a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2007, Pat is now an active member of the alumni and board member and served as the Program Chair for the Class of 2010. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Metro Atlanta.

Pat holds a B.S. in math and computer science from Manhattan College. Originally from New York, Pat now lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband and two children.



Louise Scott

Louise Scott serves as vice president and regional chief information officer for the Georgia region of Southern Company. In this role, Scott oversees the development and implementation of information technology strategy and operations. She also oversees technology execution for the distribution organization at Southern Company.

Previously, Scott served as Georgia Power’s Metro North Region manager and was responsible for providing overall leadership for operations, sales, customer service, economic and community development and external affairs for approximately 325,000 customers. Scott began her career at Southern Company in 1995 and has served in a variety of leadership roles at Georgia Power, including director of the Customer Care Center, distribution manager for the Metro West Region, manager of the Distribution Control Center and manager of workforce planning. Prior to joining the company, she worked for Florida Power Corp. for nine years in engineering, marketing and franchise negotiation roles. A native of Gloversville, N.Y., Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in studio art from the State University of New York. She has completed the Goizueta executive program at Emory University and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School executive accounting and finance program.

Scott is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers and served on the Georgia Power Scholarship Committee. In her role as the Metro North Region manager for Georgia Power, Scott was a leader for numerous community organizations. She served on the executive committee for the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce and the chairman’s committee of the Cumming Forsyth Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Scott was also as a board member for the Community Foundation of Northeast Georgia, the Council of Quality Growth, Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful, and Gwinnett Technical College. Previously, she was the board president of the Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay, Fla., president of the Rotary Club of Gateway, Fla., and in leadership positions with Greenbriar Children’s Center in Savannah, Boy Scouts of America, the American Cancer Society and the United Way. In 2009, Scott was named a Woman on the Way (WOW) by Atlanta Woman magazine



Karstin Bodell

Karstin Bodell is the Vice President of General Business Marketing which has marketing and seller enablement responsibility across the IBM portfolio for enterprise clients.

Prior to this she was the Vice President of Channels Marketing. She has held positions in Europe as the Director of Solutions & Integrators and the Director of Marketing for Small & Medium Business. Karstin has served in several roles in sales, marketing and management across the software and solutions businesses.

Karstin started her career as a Consultant with Arthur Andersen. She holds a B.A. in Management Science and Public Policy from Duke University. She is a member of the GSU Atlanta Marketing Roundtable, is on the Board of Junior Achievement of Georgia, and is an active mentor with Pathbuilders Inc.



Representative Carolyn Hugley

Representative Carolyn Hugley was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1992, and is serving as the voice for the communities of House District 133 which includes parts of Muscogee County. Presently, she is contributing her many years of legislative service to the membership of the Appropriations, Ethics, Insurance, and Rules Committees.

The motivational and inspirational speaker was born in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1958. After receiving her diploma from Forrest City High School, Hugley attended the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff, Mississippi. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and an M.P.P.A in Public Policy Administration. She is married to Isaiah Hugley and the couple has 2 children, Isaiah and Kimberly. They also have a granddaughter, Kandyce. The Hugleys are Members of the Franchise Baptist Church.

Representative Hugley has had extensive involvement in many civic and community organizations. She is a member of the Georgia State Workforce Investment Board, the Liberty Theatre Board of Directors, the Greater Georgia Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association Board, Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and was on the 1996 Columbus Olympic Committee. She currently chairs the Lower Chattahoochee Area Workforce Investment Board. Her extensive activities have caused her to be the recipient of many awards, including Citizen of the Month from the Columbus Times and Boss of the Year from the American Business Women’s Association. The National Association of Business & Professional Women’s Club presented her with the Sojourner Truth Meritorious Service Award. Hugley was named Legislator of the Year by the Georgia School Counselor’s Association.



Jennifer Van Buskirk

Jennifer Van Buskirk is the Senior Vice President of Mobility Strategy for AT&T. In this role she is responsible for shaping long term plans and priorities to preserve value and deliver new growth opportunities within AT&T’s wireless business. Prior to her current position, Jennifer served as the Vice President and General Manager of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets for North, Central and West Florida, Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, and she also held a variety of leadership positions in the Enterprise Program Management and Supply Chain organizations for Cingular Wireless.

Before joining AT&T, Jennifer worked in management consulting focused on strategy, process improvement and IT initiatives with Kurt Salmon Associates, KPMG, and Answerthink. She holds a bachelors degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Kennesaw State University. Jennifer had been married to her husband, Roy, for 15 years and has two young children.



Sally Williamson

Sally Williamson is a leading resource for improving the impact of spoken communication and executive presence. She is a 27 year veteran of developing key messages and coaching executives to deliver them effectively.

Sally specializes in executive coaching and developing custom workshops for groups that focus on improving spoken communication skills, ranging from formal presentations to everyday communication, as well as selling situations. She coaches interpersonal communication skills, helping individuals improve their executive presence and overall impressions.



Valerie Pelan

Valerie Pelan, Leadership Consultant, provides performance assessments, 360s, interactive workshops and teambuilding and Executive Coaching. She works with clients to refine their leadership style. She is known for her wealth of knowledge, high integrity, professionalism and business experience. Her 8 years of executive and leadership consulting include Fortune 500 companies and non-profit Boards. Clients agree, “She provides a strategic perspective on ways to enhance a person’s leadership style to become current in today’s business environment.”

As part of her client engagement process, Valerie provides services that focus on effective communication skills, conflict resolution techniques, ways to manage difficult people, and a feedback model that includes both coaching and mentoring skills. Her forthcoming article on the Difference between Mentoring and Coaching will be published in Talent Magazine in February 2012. Her article “A Brand Called You” appeared in Diversity Executive Magazine in January 2011. Valerie was featured in Dallas Business Journal: “Two Minutes with Leadership Guru”. She speaks at National and global conferences on Coaching, leadership, and communication. She has an MBA in Economics and is an adjunct professor.



Dr. Jane Goldner

Dr. Jane Goldner is the author of Driven to Success: A 10-Point Checkup for Achieving High Performance in Business. She has been quoted in The New York Times, CNN Money, AirTran Magazine, and CareerBuilder among many other publications. Dr. Goldner has appeared several times on 11-Alive to discuss the job market and is a member of the USA Today CEO Panel.

Dr. Goldner has been a trusted advisor to the leaders of Fortune 100 Companies, the Military as well as small businesses. Over her 30 years in business and family life, she has learned the secrets of integrating multiple roles and great leadership for women which she now brings to her coaching clients. She continues to practice the successful strategies of overcoming the ‘everything to everybody’ syndrome. Her passion is helping other women succeed. She is a highly-rated adjunct professor at the Coles School of Business at Kennesaw State University. Jane has a Masters Degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Career Development/Human Resource Development. Her greatest credential is that her grown son still calls her for career advice! Dr. Goldner’s new book, Driven to Success: Integrating Multiple Roles & Defining Leadership Success is due out in 2012.



Martha Forlines

Martha Forlines is a successful leadership consultant, coach, author, speaker and President of Belief System Institute. Her expertise is employee motivation and engagement. She has creative solutions for leaders, teams or organizations needing to “amp-up” their performance. She has successfully coached hundreds of people over her 30+ year career.

Martha recently co-authored a book for women leaders and leaders of women, Inspiring Women…BECOMING Courageous, Wise Leaders. It addresses women developing the confidence for extraordinary leadership and having the courage to change the world! BSI has been improving performance by 70% for employees participating in their programs for over 20 years.



Jane Gentry

Jane Gentry didn’t dream of being a doctor as a kid, she wanted to star on the Great White Way (Broadway). In her twenties, as she pursued her dream, she learned that eating is a good thing too. She took a ‘short term’ sales job in the event industry to make some money. When she left the industry in 1999, she was well fed and had had a successful career as a star closer and then vice president of sales. Today she is a game changer for sales people. Smart people call her when they want to go beyond the status quo and improve their skills in building real relationships with customers. Jane knows all of the theories, clichés and myths about selling – most created by unsuccessful sales people. She knows there is an art to selling that goes beyond pat scripts and ‘asking for the sale’. Jane teaches sales people how to build stronger and deeper relationships with customers, whether on a sales call or the trade show floor.

In her 20+ years since earning her MFA, Jane has been an actor, teacher, salesperson, manager, VP and entrepreneur. Now she’s hired by companies big and small that are ready to live the language of being ‘customer-focused’ and selling the way their customers buy. Phillips Medical, Stryker, The Home Depot, SunTrust Banks, Milliken and Company, First Data Corporation and Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Assurant, BAE Systems are just a few of the mega-companies whose performance she has impacted. Jane owns the company, but she has never stopped selling or learning. She feels blessed to be able to marry her business knowledge with her performance skills in a way that impacts her clients. Jane lives in Metro Atlanta.



Toby Bloomberg

Toby Bloomberg is Founder/President of Atlanta-based strategy and social media consultancy, Bloomberg Marketing/Diva Marketing. She is widely recognized for her expertise in combining social media with traditional marketing values (strategy, customer insights, segmentation, etc.) while maintaining the authenticity of digital conversations. “I love how @tobydiva actually gets how marketing, branding and social media relate.” – Conference tweet. She works with start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer and nonprofits.

Her blog launched in 2004, was acknowledged by Forbes as one of the 20 Best Marketing and Social Media Blogs Written By A Women. Among her honors is the Atlanta Social Media Women Social Media Marketing Leadership award.

Her media credits include profiled in books on social media like Naked Conversations, Now Is Gone, Twitterville and The Digital Handshake. She has been quoted in publications such as including INC magazine, BusinessWeek, Wall Street Journal and Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Entrepreneur.com, MSNBC and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

She is the author of the first business book, Social Media Marketing GPS, based on (40) Twitter interviews with global marketing leaders. Her newest venture Single All The Women is an innovative social content destination for girlfriend-to-girlfriend talk for women after the big 4-0 birthday. Barbara Hemphill

Barbara Hemphill started her organizing career in 1978 with a $7 ad in a New York City newspaper. Today, as the founder of the Productive Environment Institute, she leads an international team of Certified Productive Environment Specialists™.

A respected expert in paper, information and time management, and work/life balance, Barbara’s books include Kiplinger’s Taming the Paper Tiger series, Love It or Lose It: Living Clutter-Free Forever, Bushido Business, co-authored by Stephen M.R. Covey, Tom Hopkins, and Brian Tracy, and her 2011 release, Organizing Paper @Home: What to Toss and How to Find the Rest.

Spanning a 30-year career on the cutting edge of a growing industry, Barbara has appeared on the Today Show and Good Morning America, in Reader’s Digest, USA Today, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company and on the cover of Guideposts magazine. She provides consulting and training programs for small businesses and large companies.

An adventurer as well as an innovator, Barbara has lived in the West Indies, India, New York City, and Washington, DC. While living in India in the 1970’s, she adopted three orphaned children. In addition, her family includes two stepchildren, four grandchildren, and her beloved one-of-a-kind husband Alfred Taylor, with whom she shares their own Productive Environment™ near Raleigh, NC.



Annette Saldana

Annette Saldana is CEO of ASG Training & Development and a true catalyst for extraordinary performance. She specializes in revealing the embedded beliefs and assumptions that hinder performance, while yielding creative and compelling breakthrough thinking tools.
 Annette has developed her skills over a 20-year career as a dynamic facilitator, training people from a broad range of industries and backgrounds. She has consulted and led trainings for Ogilvy & Mather, FedEx, and Bright House Networks amongst others. She has mobilized top performance among call center representatives, for AIG and American Express, as well as quality and service managers in several industries including financial services, advertising and non-profits.

Prior to starting her own company, Annette was a program leader for an international training and development firm, facilitating and managing leadership programs for over 50,000 people. Her commitment to excellence garnered numerous accolades for achieving new levels of performance and bringing to life the power of communication and creative thinking. Later, as VP of training and quality assurance for a national marketing firm, she developed strategies and programs focused on creating potent connections with customers for Fortune 500 companies such as HBO and AT&T. Her extensive experience enabled her to quickly identify client’ industry-specific challenges in customer service delivery and brand execution. Fueled by her passion for helping organizations and individuals she founded ASG Training & Development in 2005, with the goal of leading people creatively and giving them an inspired space in which to shine. In 2012, she once again fueled by an enormous vision she launched The Art & Science of Irresistible Requests with the aim of leveling out the playing field for women in the work force. Her goal is simple, to create 20,000 victories for women in her lifetime by having them ask for what they want.



Tricia Molloy

Tricia Molloy is a motivational speaker on change management through wise business practices. She is the author of Divine Wisdom at Work: 10 Universal Principles for Enlightened Entrepreneurs and CRAVE Your Goals!

Through entertaining conference keynotes and employee development talks, workshops and webinars, Tricia inspires professionals to be more positive and focused so they can achieve their goals faster and easier. A seasoned business owner and marketing consultant, she also mentors women entrepreneurs and professionals.



Dr. Tom Schneider

Dr. Tom Schneider is dedicated to the belief that the process of physical aging can be slowed, stopped or even reversed through existing medical and scientific interventions that are available now. His ground-breaking work in age management and regenerative medicine is rooted in more than a decade of personal and professional involvement in this exciting medical specialty.

He joined the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot, trained in Pensacola and logged a tour in Vietnam where he was shot down. Following his time in Vietnam, he began his lifelong passion of learning in the field of medicine.

He attended medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and trained at prestigious facilities including Bethesda Naval Hospital, Harvard, Johns Hopkins and the National Institute of Health. He also maintains an ongoing avocation in Bioethics and has been affiliated with the Kennedy School of Bioethics at Georgetown University.

Dr. Schneider returned to the Gulf Coast as Chief of Staff and the Commanding Officer of Pensacola Naval Hospital. During that time, he not only helped with the medical needs of the Blue Angels, but also flew with the world-famous flight team.

He is currently board certified in five medical specialties, including Bariatric Medicine (Weight Management) and has completed and taught physicians in the National Bariatric Fellowship sponsored by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. Dr. Schneider is the Medical Director of Florida Healthspan located in beautiful Pensacola, Florida.



Dr. Landon McLain

Dr. Landon McLain is a fellowship trained, double-board certified cosmetic surgeon. Fellowship training is the highest level of formal education achievable by a physician and is considered the gold standard in surgical education to attain expertise in a given field. Dr. McLain completed both dental and medical school before distinguishing himself as an intern in general surgery at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. After completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, he was accepted into perhaps the most competitive fellowship in general cosmetic surgery, under the directorship of Dr. James Koehler and current president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), Dr. L. Angelo Cuzalina. Unlike many of his colleagues, Dr. McLain’s fellowship focused entirely on cosmetic surgery where he performed over 1400 elective surgical procedures devoted to the enhancement of the face, breast and body.

Dr. McLain has lectured and written on multiple topics regarding facial,breast and body rejuvenation, and has served as faculty for multiple live surgical workshops sponsored by the AACS, helping to train other surgeons from around the country in the latest techniques in facial, breast and body enhancement. Dr. McLain believes in providing patient focused care in the safest manner possible and that addressing esthetic concerns can help to promote confidence and an improved daily outlook.



Dorothéa Bozicolona-Volpe

Dorothéa Bozicolona-Volpe is fluent in 4 languages and her expertise is developing business for international brands (Fortune 500) via integrating social media and digital strategies, strategic partnerships, and marketing technologies. A specialty of hers is Social Media & Branding SME, which teaches marketers how to measure, optimize and build current new media efforts to increase value and develop strong relationships between brands and fans.

Dorothea is an avid skateboarder, who Tweets to relax. She has a personal branding practice as well. Her many clients include Ryan Seacrest, Ryan Seacrest Productions, Chrysler, Cingular Wireless (AT&T), Georgia Tech, InterContinental Hotels Group, Mercer, Ogilvy & Mather, Reader’s Digest, Qualcomm, Turner Network Television, Coca-Cola, law firms, technology start-ups, vineyards, and other television personalities.



Ashley Sanders

Ashley Sanders, Senior Manager at Engauge. She is an experienced practitioner with a specialization in social PR and multi-channel management and leads daily digital marketing account activities for Cisco Systems. She brings together creative, technology and social disciplines to create campaigns in the B2B space. She is tasked with creating sticky content and creative that transcends channels. Prior to her work on Cisco, Ashley ran influencer engagement and holistic programming for leading CPG, retail and restaurant brands, including TJX, Elmer’s Glue, Outback Steakhouse and Bob Evans Restaurant & Grocery. Diane Willard Kaufman

Diane Willard Kaufman is the founder, owner and mermaid in charge of Mermaid Cottages. She began her vacation rental business 6 years ago after 26 years with Marriott International. She started her Marriott career as a banquet server and her accomplishments included working with Key National Accounts , training hotels globally in sales and marketing and a 6 time winner of Marriott’s Chairman’s Circle for the company’s top Sales professionals . Mermaid Cottages began as a part time hobby while working for Marriott. When corporate restructuring happened (as it does to so many) Diane retired and developed her hobby into a full time business. Marriott’s training and philosophy gave Diane the business foundation she needed to create her business.

Mermaid Cottages is a boutique business with a very strong brand identity. Cozy Cottages, Historic Houses – mostly pet friendly, all with WIFI , all with exceptional guest service is what we’re about. We welcome guests into our homes, not renters into houses. We are also a very active part of our community. Diane’s nonprofit work includes Historic Savannah Foundation, Savannah Urban Garden Alliance, Tybee Island Sea Turtle Project and Paws4Vets. She has developed two additional Mermaid Cottage brands to support her causes- Mermaid Morning Bliss Coffee – a coffee special created by Jittery Joe’s of Athens, GA where profits support Sea Turtle projects in GA and around the world. Beach Bum Biscuits supports her annual sponsorship of a Guide Dog Puppy. These dog biscuits have now sponsored 8 service dogs with more to come! Diane has recently started Island Dog Consulting which focuses on vacation rental consulting and small business coaching.

She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in Business Administration and major in Marketing. Her family includes daughter Katie who live and works in Brevard, NC and Danny and Sophie-her two labs.



John Stupka

John Stupka is a dedicated and passionate entrepreneur, who launched BLUE MedSpa to share a vision. This vision is to make a positive difference in the lives of our guests, the spa industry, and our supporting community. His favorite quote is “Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference.” – Joel Barker.
John Stupka, a Miami native, received his degree from Florida State University. For over 15 years as a medical consultant with Physician Sales and Service, John worked with some of the country’s leading dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and wellness providers. He was the youngest to earn a seat on the CEO roundtable, an honor achieved by the top 1% of professionals with PSS.

John is proudest of his current accomplishment, BLUE MedSpa, chosen in its first year as one of the top 55 new spas in the world by Condé Nast Magazine. He has just expanded his base of operations by opening a new state-of-the-art BLUE MedSpa in Huntsville, Alabama. Creating BLUE MedSpa has allowed John to reach a greater number of individuals, organizations, and charities. John has donated his time and resources to many charitable organizations including; The Dallas Austin Foundation, GCAPP, AID Atlanta, Childkind, New Leash on Life, Project Open Hand, and The American Cancer Society. He is a member of the International Spa Association and the Medical Spa Association. John’s commitment to health and wellness and his desire to educate, nurture, and promote the overall well-being of every client is his driving force and non-stop motivator.



Maria Sutej'

Maria Sutej’ is a Regional Vice President in Sales at Avon Products, Inc.

Maria leads a team of professionals with cross-functional skills and experience focused on defining short and long term measures related to achieving annual sales goals, and provides stewardship in the implementation of global business strategies.

Maria began her career in 1983 joining Avon as a District Sales Manager. She quickly ascended through the sales ranks holding positions as Field Trainer, Division Sales Manager, and Field Business Unit Leader. During her assignment as Division Sales Manager in Tennessee, she made Avon history by ranking in the top 10 percent in sales growth for eight consecutive years. In 1996, Maria was promoted to Region Vice President.

Maria currently serves as a board member for Emory University’s School of Medicine and The Winship Cancer Institute. She has been a past board member for several organizations including Women Work! and The Partnership Against Domestic Violence. In recognition of her leadership and community involvement, Maria was named one of Georgia’s 100 Most Powerful and Influential Women.

Maria defines her career as a direct result of successfully building relationships of mutual respect and high expectations … “It is a privilege to help others by offering opportunities to people who want to expand their options and improve the quality of their lives. Maria earned a B.A. from Appalachian State University, and was honored with their Distinguished Alumnus Award. She and her family currently reside in Dunwoody, Georgia.



Amy Medendorp

Amy Medendorp
is the Diversified Commercial Banking Line of Business Executive at SunTrust Banks, Inc. In this role, she is responsible for developing business strategy and directing the integrated delivery of the bank’s full line of products and services to businesses with up to $100 million in annual revenue. This includes SunTrust’s Business Banking and Commercial Banking client segments as well as specialty client segments in not-for-profit, government, and the auto dealer industry. Additionally, she has management responsibility for SunTrust’s Diversified Commercial Banking Credit function, both centralized and decentralized.

Prior to being named to this position in April 2010, Ms. Medendorp was Co-Head of Corporate and Investment Banking where she was responsible for Investment Banking, Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity Coverage, Middle Market Client Coverage, SunTrust’s Equipment Leasing, Asset-Based Lending and Corporate Risk Management operations. From 2001 to 2007, she served as head of Client Coverage for the large corporate client segment, to include all of the Specialty and Geographic Coverage teams.

Ms. Medendorp began her career with SunTrust in Florida. For the first ten years, she was involved in partnering with small, middle market and large corporate clients to develop and deliver solutions to address their financial needs. In the subsequent eight years, she served in a variety of roles within Debt Capital Markets where she held increasingly responsible positions in corporate finance including establishing and managing the company’s Public Debt, Securitization, Structured Leasing, Syndications, and Private Placement teams.

Ms. Medendorp graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. She serves on the Board of Directors for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey as well as on the Board of Directors for Piedmont Healthcare System of Atlanta.



Dr. Marilyn Carroll

Dr. Marilyn Carroll is the Founder and CEO of KSAP5i a Career Management Education Company. She has a Ph.D. in Management and Organization with a Leadership Specialization, from Capella University and an MBA in Global Business. She is also a visiting Professor to several Business Schools lecturing on the following topics: Career and Business Strategies, Leadership, Management, as well as Organizational Behavior and Development. Dr. Carroll has over 20 year’s management, coaching, and education experience. Previous to going full-time as an entrepreneurial she was Group Vice President, SunTrust Bank, Wealth and Investment Management where she managed a team of Employee Benefits, Foundations and Endowment and Escrow Services professionals.

She is the parent of two children one in college and the other a working adult. She has written three books, and in the process of completing an additional book, “Professional Freedom, Economic Empowerment 101″. Dr. Carroll is passionate about helping others manage their careers. She has spent an extensive amount of time researching career management methodology. She recently launched a series of programs based on career management best practices for success. She has worked with over 1,000 students using many of the same practices.

Marilyn is an active member in her community serving on several boards including: United Way Women’s Legacy Board, Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Georgia Business Leadership Network which supports hiring, servicing, and working with individuals with disabilities. She is a member of the Academy of Management, American Management Association, American Society of Pension Actuaries and Society of Human Resources Management.



Moanica Caston

Moanica Caston was elected Vice President of Diversity for Georgia Power in January 2011.

In this position, Caston oversees the development and implementation of strategies that help sustain a culture of excellence through inclusion by improving leadership and work culture. She chairs the company’s Affinity Group Review Board, which assesses the effectiveness of affinity groups. She also serves as a Company Review Officer, with binding decision authority to determine formal employee complaint cases through an alternative dispute resolution process.

Caston returns to Georgia Power from Southern Nuclear where she served as Vice President of External Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In this role, she was responsible for Public Affairs, Labor Relations, Environmental Affairs, Corporate Concerns and Corporate Security. Additionally, she served as Human Resources Director of Southern Nuclear.

Caston began her career with Southern Company at Georgia Power as
Manager, Workplace Ethics. Prior to joining the company, she held positions with Progress Energy in organizational assessment
and human resources and in private law practice.

As an attorney, Caston is a member of the American Bar Association and
Energy Bar Association. Other professional memberships include the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals, Society for Human Resources Management, National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, and American Association of Blacks in Energy.

A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Caston received her Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. She is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.



Rita Izaguirre

Rita Izaguirre is Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition, Diversity & HR Compliance for SunTrust Banks, Inc. In this role, Rita is responsible for the employment brand of SunTrust. She directs the strategic planning and operational execution of talent acquisition, ensures compliance with employment regulations, oversees operational risks associated with the human resources function, and drives diversity and inclusion practices for the Company.

Rita joined SunTrust August 2009. She has extensive experience in human resources and employment and labor law. Previously she was the Compliance & Diversity Leader for General Electric Healthcare where she managed human resources compliance, diversity and employer of choice efforts in the US and Europe. She practiced law in the US and Latin America, and in 1997 moved to the Human Resources field where she has held different roles with Fortune 100 companies, as well as public sector organizations.

Rita holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Barry University, a Certificate in Organization Development from Georgetown University, and a Law degree from Nova University. She is admitted to the Florida Bar. Also holds the SPHR designation. Rita taught Employment Law and Managing Workforce Diversity in the graduate OD and HR program at American University in Washington, DC.

Rita is a member of the board of Year Up, a national organization that provides urban youth educational tools to achieve their potential. Rita is married and lives with her husband, Amado, in Atlanta, GA.



Barbara S. Hingst

Barbara Hingst is vice president of Business Performance Services for Southern Company. She is responsible for providing support to SCS-Services in the areas of benchmarking, metrics and reporting, goal setting and analysis, program and project management, and travel and conference planning through the Atlanta-based conference and travel services team.

Hingst began her career at Southern Company in 1984, spending nine years in various analyst and supervisory positions in financial planning and corporate finance at Southern Company Services. In 1994, Hingst became the assistant to the executive vice president and CFO of Georgia Power. In 1995, Hingst started her focus on marketing as a market planning manager at Georgia Power, and later became director of strategic market
planning for Southern Company. In May 1999, she was promoted to vice president, strategic market planning. In November 2000, she became Vice President of Marketing Services for Southern Company. Over the years, Hingst has enjoyed various project assignments in Thailand and England as well as testifying in numerous regulatory proceedings.

Hingst has a BBA in Management Science, cum laude from the University of Georgia (1984) and an MBA with concentration in finance from Georgia State University (1989). Hingst is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Leukemia Society of America, Georgia Chapter. She enjoys outdoor sports and is an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Hingst has young twins, Brody and Brienne.

Dr. Ken Knott

Dr. Ken Knott graduated from the University of Tennessee with an MD degree. Dr. Knott practices at BLUE MedSpa in Atlanta. He developed an interest in hormonal replacement after discovering the positive effects of hormones on healing. His recent book What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know Can Hurt You provides both the patient and the physician the insight of how to make medicine the practice of maintaining wellness as opposed to treating the symptoms of chronic disease.
